October 8, 2010, Friday

Up at 7:45 am and ready at 9:00 am to head over to the Dingle Peninsula and the town of Dingle. The Dingle Peninsula is the westernmost tip of Ireland and has a ton of tourists all summer thru September making October a perfect time to visit. Had some rain showers on the 4 hour drive but the sun came out as we crossed onto the Peninsula.

On the way to Dingle we were in need of a restroom stop and a quick meal both fulfilled by a place with an Irish Name -- McDonald’s! Arrived at our lodging for the next 3 nights “Eileen Collins Kirray B&B” . Eileen is a very grandmotherly type of person who will be watching over us during our stay. Her husband does archaeological tours of the Peninsula which we would like to do. Hopefully we can arrange that while we are here. We are hoping to get in a fairly long bike tour of the Peninsula on Saturday if the weather is nice. After getting settled into our rooms we took a “walkabout” around town to check it and the Harbor out. It was really WINDY!! We walked around for almost an hour before heading back to the B&B for some R&R before going to supper,

We couldn’t decide between Pub Food or freshly caught fish for supper. Luckily we found the Marina Inn across from the Harbor which covered both our criteria. Bonnie & Terry tried the stout made in Cork Ron and I tried a pint of the Bulmer’s cider. We had seen the fermenting plant yesterday and thought it would be worth a try. It was OK but we’ll take the beer the next time!
