Death Valley is located in California just over the Nevada border. It's the hottest place in America and hit 114 degrees fahrenheit (approx 46 degrees celsius) while we were there
The road through the valley is almost a rollercoaster, complete with undulating dips for most of it. Probably the funniest road ever, losing our tummies over and over!
We arrived in Mammoth Lakes right as a storm hit. It's been raining heavily for hours in this snow resort town. The ski lodge is beautiful and serves a wonderful three course meal, with, you guessed it, actual vegetables! The waiter was perfectly proper and we started on the wrong foot when we arrived beer in hand he says 'you've already started with your libations'. We're served warm bread which I am halfway through as the entree arrives. He stands staring at me, then after an uncomfortable silence, tells me to move my bread! Ha oops. That was the end, giggles set in as we were convinced we were getting kicked out before the main!
We're staying a stones throw away from the Mammoth Lakes ski fields, you could literally ski/board to our carpark if there was snow... We're just here during the wrong season, or are we? Looking at the mountain in the dark, it appears there's an amount of white stuff up there. We wait 'til morning to see that our suspicions are confirmed... The mountain is covered in snow! In one day we've gone from 46 degrees to snow weather!
Absolutely want to visit here again during winter!
