So I asked Roger as we almost got squeezed out of our lane on a tight corner by a bus motorhome pulling an F-150 (seriously?) who thought the road was his ... which do you prefer, the 12-lane freeway outside Oakland, or this narrow winding cliffside road. He said they sucked equally. However, I think if I had asked him before we had to stop so that he could use the trailer bathroom, he would have said the Big Sur road for sure.
Anyway, absolutely stunning views. By the way, there were people standing on the top of the cliffs on the roadside with big antennaes pointed down into the ocean - anybody know what that's all about?
The highlight of the day (other than the sights off Big Sur) was a stop at Point Piedras Blancas (just before Hearst Castle, which we didn't go to by the way ..
Our travels today ended in Pismo Beach, at a very large, well equiped, clean RV park called Pismo Coast Village - right on the beach (three guesses what's right next door - a mobile RV repair shop ... jeesh). I got to do laundry (my favorite chore ... really), and we wandered back to San Luis Obispo for their famous Thursday night Farmers Market. Blocks and blocks of hot food booths, baking, fresh fruits and vegetables ... Brie would have been in seventh heaven.
Tomorrow we hope to land in the Santa Barbara area, then on to L.A. on Saturday.
