With prior warning of the road conditions we set off regardless down to Damenlong which took a damn-long 4 1/2 hours on a bumpy road being repaired. The Dai BBQ food we ate made it all worth while with some tasty BBQ pork ribs and this pork mince cake seasoned with herbs and wrapped in banana leaf which was grilled to perfection.

TV was gold as we stumbled on a program for a noodle king competition. One of the noodle ladies pulled the noodles as thin as your hair in less than 3 minutes, amazing!

The monastry nearby which was a short walk away and full of grannies making their daily offerings of rice and other goods and we sat in the main temple taking in the atmosphere.
