A cycle through the countryside took us across the Mekong and we were happily cycling through rice paddies and rubber tree plantations until we noticed the storm brewing ahead and decided to turned back. We left it to late as we got soaked by the sudden heavy down pour and it took us a couple of minutes before we could find shelter. With no sign of letting up we decided to try and make it over the mekong and we did but we did not expect the sewerage from the overflowing drains come down the steep ramp that we had to push our bikes up. Our feet and shoes were absolutely soaked and it took some thorough cleaning before the slimey goo would come off, Yuk!
The Dai temple we visited and the street shao-kao made up for it though. Shao Kao are BBQ sticks usually served on the street where you sit on a low table with a whole heap of people. Usually around 18 cents a stick and around 40 cents for a small fish we ate to our hearts content. The MSG dreams did follow and I dreamt that I was a monkey doing a handstand on a goat riding a hippopotamos.....or something like that...
The hotel wasn't that great either as on closer inspection in the crack beside the bed lay a used condom that had layer of purple dust covering it. WTF?
