We came to this decaying town in search of the "one tree forest" and a bus playing a sex video disguised as an MTV flick took us here. The one tree forest was never found (I knew it was a gimmick) but however we did venture off into a reserve and passed the 215 Sino-Myanmar border pass and a nightclub in the the middle of the jungle. We asked for directions when we got lost and the farmer replied Myanmar or China? We did however manage to follow the chanting to our first Dai temple experience where the monk was broadcasting the daily prayers on loudspeaker. The vilage that we passed en route was full of Dai houses all on stilts. They all hang corn on the sides which they believe brings them luck.
The town seemed like its golden age had passed and was decaying into an awful state. With so many hotels and restaurant around, it was very hard to choose as they were all empty. When the tourists came down here it was booming but now there are no tourists and the town has turned into a a ghost town. However that said it did not us stop us from picking a hotel opposite the Karaoke bar which had drunken monks singing there favourite chinese tunes.
Today I was shocked with my circus TV program when I saw a monkey do a handstand on the goat. Not to mention the goat was also riding a hippopotamos at the same time, speechless.
