For a change we hopped on a deluxe sleeper bus to head down here. The bus was new, the sheets clean and you had to put on plastic bags over your shoes before they would let you get on the the bus even. To top it off the hostess repeated "no smoking or spitting allowed" everytime someone got on. Much to our relief it was one of the most comfortable rides we have had in a long time so much so that when we arrived we didn't even know it and spent an hour still in our beds along with half of the bus who didn't want to leave because it was so cozy.
This town lies at the gateway of the sub tropical region known as Xishuang Banna. The Laicang aka Mekong river lies adjacent the town which is dominated by the Dai minority (closely related to Thai). The weather was hot and humid and only made bareable by the abundant pomelo's on sale at 50 cents each.
