To finish the weekend off we went to visit Leeds Castle (third and final castle thank goodness!). The castle situated in a lake, was only accessible from a drawbridge. On the grounds there was a hedge lawn maze and a small grotto that kept us entertained for half an hour (Ruth decided to stay in the car). The task for the day was also to take mental pictures of the place as I had left my camera battery in the house. Because of that I am on a mission to find a way to download those pictures onto CD or at least learn to sketch more than stick figures. What the castle lacks in size is made up by the marketing department merchandising just about everything including wine, jams, cookies, chocolate, china plates, dog collars and potato chips! We searched and searched but were unable to find Leeds Castle foi gras even though on the grounds lived an overwhelming population of ducks. Such thoughts had wet my appetite and whilst returning the car to the depot Nancy prepared a lovely home cooked meal for her flatmate and I.

After spending the last few days on the road I have deduced that all Englishmen and women drive really fast and that includes the numerous grannies that overtook me at 75 miles an hour when the limit was only 60.
