Right guys, first of all I'd like to offer my apologies for my neglect of this blog over the last couple of weeks.  However there is an extremely good reason for this and any of you who have ever been on a cricket tour or even to a day of test match cricket will guess why.  Firstly cricket takes up your whole day and then your evenings are consumed by spending every conceivable amount of time possible in the nearest bar.  But rest assured I am deeply humbled by the fact that I've had nearly 700 hits on this blog since I left blighty 6 and a half weeks ago!
Anyway I'm still here in Wellington where we had a mild celebration of England's victory here on Monday evening.  The only problem was that 3 of us decided to have a pre-emptive celebration until 4am on Sunday night and this meant we were feeling a bit rough on Monday morning.  In fact I nearly missed England wrapping up victory completely as I slept in late, nursing a rather severe hangover!  Anyway the cricket circus has pretty much left Wellington now and there aren't many of the Barmy Army (unofficial) still here in and the whole town was dead last night -

.  Monday night had been stupidly busy with 4000 England fans out celebrating and it also being St Patricks Day.  With patriotism in mind I'd like to point out that our party stayed away from the Irish bars!
Anyway I've spent the last couple of days attempting to recouperate from the 2 weeks heavy drinking that has passed.  Although I did head out last night for a few beers to meet up with Jethro a mate from uni who has been in New Zealand since October.  I was actually hoping to catch up with him down on the South Island after the cricket had finished, but he is now heading up northwards to sell his car and prepare to head home himself as he flies home a couple of days after I do.  So anyway it was good to catch up with Jethro, if a little weird to see him on the other side of the world having not seen him since graduation.
So onto my sightseeing round Wellington, well yesterday I went on the cable car up to the botanical gardens.  Former England captain David Gower was on the cable car!!!  For those of you who know bugger all about cricket, he used to be on They Think It's All Over - and for those of you who know nothing about sport or ever watched that programme, you'll just have to trust me, he's a legend!  Anyway the views from the top of the cable car ride were great and Mr Gower was taking photos at the top at the same time I was.  I then walked down through the botanical gardens to the parliament buildings and then me and Chris - one of the lads from the cricket - walked down to the harbour and chilled out, outside a pub for a bit -

Today I was seriously lazy - as Mum will testify from my sleepiness when she rang me - and got out of bed about lunchtime.  But finally when I'd got some energy I headed down to Te Papa which is the national museum of New Zealand and did the touristy thing.  Check out the pics of Maori huts, and a strange cow made out of corned beef tins (I don't know why either) !!!  Tonight I've laid off the booze and am very proud of myself, I've just had a wonder down to the beach and seen some fantastic views of the city and harbour lit up, but hadn't got my camera with me, so I'll try and head down there again tomorrow night to get some pics of it.
Tomorrow I'm heading up to the Mt Victoria lookout for some other views of the city and if the weather is good I'm gonna chill on the beach for a bit.
On Friday I'm heading upto a little town just outside Napier, called Hastings where I am staying for the 3rd test which starts on Saturday.  I have no idea at the moment how  I am getting from Hastings to Napier everyday but I guess we'll have to cross that bridge when we come to it!
Anyway keep in touch everybody.
