Well I arrived in Wellington last night after a gruelling 6 hour coach journey from National Park that did little to soothe my aching limbs after my mountain exploits on Tuesday. But anyway in true Barmy Army style I dumped my bags on arrival and hit the town, getting in at a fairly respectable 2am. I was then up bright and early this morning to make a few phone calls home and get my spot on the grass banks for the first day of the second test.
Non-cricket fans can switch off at this point and proceed to the next entry in the blog, wherever and whenever that may arise.
Anyway for those of you with a brain clever enough to cope with the complexities of cricket. We had a mare in Hamilton, hence why I haven;t spoken about the cricket on the blog yet. Frankly the last day there was pure torture, although we did soothe the pain with a few bevvies as you do. Anyway England started well on day 1 with Vaughan and Cook taking us to lunch on a respectable score after Harry Potter's New Zealand had put us into bat. I'm going for a job at the BBC here - can you tell???!!! Then a familiar tale returned after lunch as England collapsed to 130 odd for 5. But cometh the hour, cometh the men, and we've just spent the last 2 hours cheering Tim Ambrose - Warwickshire legend - and Paul Collingwood to a 100 partnership. Ambrose has ended the day 3 short of his maiden test match century and I will be sticking the Warwickshire T-Shirt on in the morning to hopefully see him complete it. Right cricket talk over - I'm off to have a shower, a shit and a shave and then hit the bright lights of Cuba St!!!!
Oh a full description and photos of my harrowing mountain ordeal will follow when I can be arsed.
Stay warm, stay out of the wind, rain/snow and watch out for earthquakes.
Keep in touch.
Oh and a belated happy birthday to my little sister Grace who turned 14 on Monday - I will try and ring again tomorrow.
