We left Quito this morning.  We left the motel at 5:10 so it wasnt really morning!  The drive to the new airport was less than an hour as all the insane drivers must have still been in bed!  The challenge of the day actually didn't happen until we had to change planes in Lima, Peru.  What a nutty system!  The line, no joke, went through the chicanes for about 10 turns and the rest of the line went for the entire length of the terminal building, which was huge!  No special day.  It happens all the time.  We had already got our boarding passes and had luggage tags to Cusco, but there was no baggage drop-off.  Just join the cue, we were getting told.  Then we found the right person who whisked our luggage away and, yes, it did turn up on the same plane as we did.
Cusco is a most surprising place.
It is full of beautiful stone buildings with red tiled roofs.
There are very old churches and the most gorgeous and vibrant town square.
We had the most amazing dinner tonight in a highly recommended place and I tried the alpaca which was delicious, but my favourite was the basil ice cream!  Get out of here, I hear you say!
But it was totally delicious!
