Today we left Halls Gap and drove to Seppelts Winery at Great Western. It always seems wrong to be drinking wine at 9am. Nevertheless we managed to find several wines we liked and took some bottles with us. Then on to Ararat, where we visited the Gum San Chinese Museum. Again, this was very well done and had some great interactive displays on the Chinese settlers in early Australia, especially on the goldfields. Some of the displays included being able to pan for real gold (unsuccessfully in our case), and learning to write Chinese characters. In the afternoon we went to Buangor NP, visited Ferntree Falls, which was only a small falls but definitely one of the prettiest I have ever seen, then we camped the night in the park. We were the only ones there and it was lovely sitting by the fire, sipping our port. However we did that for a little too long and our backs got very cold, we found it very hard to warm up again as it was an extremely cold night and having no power we had no heating in the van.
