So, I managed to buy an old car off a good friend in QT (thanks Jen), so Blake, Adam, Drew and myself hit the road with no real plan of what we wanted to do or where we wanted to go.  All we knew was we wanted to see as much as we could without blowing a load of cash......
This was the first stop, Te Anau, just on the border of Fiordland, not a massive town, it was more of a stop-over point for people hitting Milford and Doubtful Sounds, so when we hit the town on Friday night we found hardly anything going on, just a load of inbred locals with attitude problems, probably pissed-off a being stuck in a place with little or nothing to do....
So we stayed here for 3 days and 3 nights, We took the Glow-worm cave tour on the Friday which was pretty good, got a nice boat ride across lake Te-Anau to the caves, then got to walk through massive caves with fast flowing water pounding its way through, dropping over waterfalls and disappearing into caves.
On the Saturday we took a short walk on one of NZ's "Great Walks" the Kepler Track.  We choose to walk to Lake Manaorpi, which took about 5 hours return, but it was well worth the walk when we hit the lake.  In true Fiordland style it was raining, but this gave the lake a great moody feeling.
On Sunday it was raining (again), so we went to see an amazing film called Shadowland. It took 2 years to make and only lasted 30 mins, the footage was taken by helicopter over Fiordland, the main emphasis was on the fact that 90% of the land is inaccessible to most people, so to see the movie was amazing, gave us all an amazing sense of awe from being so close to such a great place.
