Flag of Greece  , Dodecanese,
Wednesday, September 22, 2010

Jeff went out early to catch the sunrise hitting our hotel and the harbour.

Yelled at by an old fat mole because we were late for the ferry (what happened to Greek time??). This just made us more late ... thanks stupido!  Boat had to hoist the Turkish flag about half way across as they reckon otherwise they'll get shot at ... hmmmm.

Passport control consisted of us walking through the chain link fence holding pen without being checked or even looked at in a lazy manner!

In one of the laneway shops we saw a stupid American woman pointing at fresh Turkish delight and going "Oh, I wanna try some of that jelly, you know Al, that turkey stuff"  OMG.  Some people are too stupid to travel.  O_o

Had Gozleme in Turkey but we still like the Subiaco version best!  Unfortunately, they gave us the change in Turkish Lira ... so then we had to find a way to spend the remaining Lira (every other shop let us pay in Euro and gave us change in Euro as well).

Is Turkish bread in Turkey just “bread”?  Is Turkish delight just “delight”?  Can see some misunderstandings if we went up to a Turkish shop owner in the afternoon and said “Can I please have some delight?”

Shop owner standing behind Sherry also did the Asian “peace” finger sign while Sherry was doing the same thing for a photo.

Very hot and humid, heaps of activities and tours offered, lots of real estate agents, much greener and more developed than we expected.

Got talking to a nice rug owner who invited us into his shop even though we said we weren’t going to buy anything.  Offered us some Turkish apple tea (we think!).  Joked with Sherry about having to pay to take photos of his cat on the carpet outside.

Seemed like a very friendly place & much cheaper than a lot of Europe so we might have to add Turkey to our list of places we want to go to!

Had a snooze on the boat on the way back to Kazzie as we were very tired.

Too hot to do much so stayed in our nice air-con room for a while then went out later and roamed around the back streets of the town for a while before coming back for some more yummy Greek food.
