Where I stayed
Dropped off back at our hotel dock and unfortunately that’s not all that was dropped. One dropped camera and two busted filters later. Crap, crap, crap! : ( Luckily the actual lens and camera itself appears to be ok, but the polarizer fractured and the uv is wedged on it
Huge cruise ship from Crete had docked while we were boating around Kazzie. We’re both astounded that it fit in the harbour.
Swam and snorkled in front of our hotel for awhile. The water is very clear but not a huge amount of marine life around apart from sea urchins – they are everywhere.
Sunbaked for awhile to dry off and warm up then came back to our room to wash all the salt off.
Late lunch of dolmades, country salad and chickpea casserole. Chickpeas were amazing.
Organised (sort of) a boat trip to Turkey for Wednesday. Had to give our passports to the captain so he can arrange the custom details – providing he could get enough people to join the trip. Saw him later on and he was still walking around with them in his hand... plus a few others that he has taken from other passengers he’s scrounged up
Explored the back streets of Kazzie and found the way up to the staircase up the mountain (why do we do these things to ourselves?). Heaps of ruined houses in the back streets still from WWII. They are quite picturesque but sad to see them still in disrepair after all these years. Odd too as quite often the house next to a ruined house has been restored and has people living in it... even though they share an adjoining wall. A lot of families who were relocated off the island have never moved back so we guess these ruins will stay until they completely fall down?
