Today's weather report is brought to you by Lachlan:

Today's outlook was fine with a few spots of clouds. Unfortunately, (and somewhat predictably) this forecast was completely and utterly wrong. After having a brilliant night's sleep in amazingly comfortable beds, we set out on the bike and were promptly rained upon. For hours.

Thankfully we had taken the initiative and got in to our rainsuits before the deluge, so I stayed dry as water slowly dripped down my dad's back and into his boots. Man, did I have a lot of fun taunting him about that!

Eventually we were able to outrun the rain and enjoyed about 30 minutes of dry riding to Colditz. The town was relatively small and quiet, but the castle was ever present as it loomed over us at the top of the hill like some sort of Prisoner of War camp. Funny, that.

The tour around Colditz Castle was extremely interesting, partly because of the tour guide and partly because of Dad's upbringing on the books. Got myself the first of the books in the series by Patrick Reid, which I'll read when I'm not so darn tired.

Things seemed to go downhill pretty quickly when we left Colditz - the rains had caught up with us, and the GPS gave us instructions a second too late, causing us to miss a turn off to the autobahn and no way to get back on in the right direction because of roadworks. So, off we went in the direction we had just come from for 13km in each direction! The rain followed us all the way across the border, but seemed to lose interest once we got into the Czech Republic. After that it was a remarkably pleasant ride along the motorway towards Prague (although you could hardly call a road so pretty motorway - alongside the river with such beautiful scenery!) So here we are in Vedomice, ready to head off to Olomouc tomorrow via the church of bones. Intriguing!

5 countries down, 10 to go!
