I took the TranzAlpine train from Christchurch to Greymouth (through the tip of the Southern Alps) this morning and experienced some amazing scenery (I have added a couple of pictures to this short blog).

Aside from making the most of the stunning mountain scenery, I managed to finish reading Chris Evans' autobiography. Definitely worth a read...

I arrived into Greymouth at 12:45 and picked up my hire car for the next few days (another Corolla – hooray!). After taking in the sights (there wasn’t too many!) of Greymouth, I headed to Hokitika, about 60km south of Greymouth) and prepared myself for the next day of ice walking!
