Didn't have far to go this morning as Clarksdale wasn't far from Memphis. Found a car park lot at the end of Beale St so it was nice & central, bonus was, it was only $5 for all day & night. Walked up to the Civil Rights Museum & the Lorraine Hotel, where Martin Luther King Jnr was assassinated in 1968. Chatted with one of the museum workers who grew up in the time of segregation, as he was black it was very interesting listening to how times had changed from when he was a young kid growing up.

From there we walked up to the Peabody Hotel where ducks, who live on the roof of the hotel, are escorted down in the lift each day at 11am to swim in the lobby's fountain & then escorted back up at 5pm. There's a real crowd to see it & a ceremony with an honorary duck master to escort them.

Back to Beale St again for a couple of hours, we had been told so many times about Beale St, it doesn't come alive till after dark. There were lots of musicians playing all along the street & on the clubs, there was also a strong police presence so think it might get a bit rowdy later in the night. We didn't leave the Blues Club last night till after midnight so were feeling a bit jaded so only managed to last till 9pm. Camped at Walmart about 15 minutes from town with 3 other big RV's.
