Instead we drove out along River Rd through what they call Plantation Alley. This is where a few of the old antebellum homes still remain. Unfortunately, there's not many left & because they're on the river the whole area has become very heavily industrialised.
I did a tour of Oak Alley Plantation, Ray decided it wasn't his thing so waited in the RV for me. The house was built between 1837 - 1839 mainly by slave labour
The day was overcast & we even had some rain on the way back to the park, although it wasn't much. One thing we have noticed since entering Louisiana is the bridges are all high & big, they never just go straight across the river. Guess it's because of all the river traffic & the potential for flooding in the area.
