Our time in LA has nearly come to an end, our flight leaves tomorrow night at 11.55pm & have to check out of the motel by midday so we're going to leave our luggage in the locker & go to Santa Monica & Venice Beach for the day. Hopefully we'll sleep on the plane. We have had a great time in LA & have been out & about every day. The first couple of days we were here we got a Metro day ticket for $5 for the day which allowed us to travel on the buses & trains all day. Then we got a 7 day tapcard which was even better value at $22 each

The first day we went to Hollywood & booked to go on a hop-on, hop-off bus tour where the tickets are valid for 48 hrs, we also received tickets to Madame Tussards Wax museum for booking the bus tour so went & had a look there, very interesting.

Went to Manhatten Beach & walked up the Strand, some beautiful homes near the beach. It was overcast & the breeze was cool near the water so didn't go for a swim.

Went to the Farmers Market & the Grove, which is a shopping area in LA. We didn't know till we got there that they also film segments for the TV show Extra there & they had Bruce Jenner on the day we were there. For those that don't know, he was a US gold medallist in the decathlon at the Montreal Olympics in 1976 but these days is better known for being the step-father of the Kardashions.

Caught the bus down to Santa Monica & had a walk around the pier & 3rd St Promenade, another shopping area, before walking up to Venice Beach. It was very foggy when we arrived & the cloud didn't  break up till about 4.30. It made it much more pleasant for walking. Saw some sights along the way & at Muscle beach. Someone also told us about some canals just back from the beach so had a look there as well, it was very pretty.

Did our hop-on, hop-off bus tour over 2 days & went to many places. Day 1 took us all round Hollywood, Sunset Strip, Beverley Hills, Rodeo Drive,  & Melrose Ave. Day 2 took us around Downtown, Union Station, Chinatown, the jewellery district, the fashion district & lots more.
