A fine cool morning in Copenhagen so we headed for breakfast at 8am and we managed to get half rate hotel cycles and completed a 2 hour ride around the city on the cycle ways that are amazing. A massive 37%of the population use cycles so as you can imagine their are cycles everywhere. Cycle ways are impressive and they even have their own traffic signals.
We checked out at11.45 and took a cab to the cruise terminal and went through a very simple but efficient embarkation process and since 12.20 we have been sitting in the Garden Cafe on the 11th deck of our floating hotel which will be home for the next 2 weeks. We sail at 5pm local time.

Pre dinner drinks, then dinner followed by the opening show and an ice cream after watching the end of the Ryder cup golf we had a great nights sleep. Now we are back from breakfast and ready for the day ahead. it's now 10.30am. We are now into the North Sea sailing SW down the coast of Denmark. Temp is 14C wind is 14kts. Really enjoyed the lifestyle - morning exercise routine on the Promenade deck 6, a 480 m track followed by an a la carte breakfast from 9.15 then a health seminar at 11, then lunch at about 1pm followed by a rest and read while Mary did a half hour in the gym then at 5 we went a happy hour in the sports bar where we met an English couple, David and Pauline who live in Florida. We went to dinner with them at 6.30 and to the fantastic variety musical/dance show at 9. Then it was up to the Observation lounge for jazz dance band and a night cap. Nearly mid-night, time for bed. What a day!

Then it was off to bed and we put our clocks back an hour as we change time zones
Thursday October 4 time 8.10am approaching Lisbon for our first of two stops. Going ashore around 10 for a few hours sightseeing and a little shopping. Another relaxing day yesterday with a documentary on California rail trips and then two great shows in the evening - a husband and wife dance/gymnastic team, just brilliant.
Friday October 5. 9.20am. We have done a 4 km walk on the Promenade and now we are nearly ready for breakfast. It's a beautiful day - light winds, flat sea and we are about half way to the Madieras we will stop for a few hours tomorrow.
We had a great day in Lisbon yesterday- did some shopping and rode on the old tramcars to the castle and the out to the other side of the city to the Basilica. Weather was beautiful. We would definitely like to come back and spend some more time exploring the city. We returned to the ship in time for the happy hour and sat out on deck 11 until we sailed at 6pm. It was brilliant sitting out in the evening sun as we slowly moved down river and under the harbour bridge and out into the Atlantic towards the Madeiras. Dinner followed and then another fantastic show this time from 'Graffiticlassic', a brilliant string quartet then it was time for bed.
Saturday October 6 9.25am we are now ashore in Funchal, Madeira for a few hours. We leave at 1 pm and have to be back on board at 12.30. Yesterday was another great day with a magician entertaining us at the show time. He was great. The few hours ashore were great. A quick look at the shops and then a ride on the gondola with fantastic views over the town and surrounds. Excellent. Now heading out into mid Atlantic with 7 days to reach Miami.
