Train is late and we don't leave till 3pm. Only 2 coaches but seats are roomy and comfortable but if the large window was clean you would be able to see better. Air con is a nice temp, very pleasant. A major track upgrade is in progress and electrification planned for a double line. At the border we will add coaches to the train to proceed north toward Bangkok. We are due in Hua Hin at 6.30 in the morning. The seats convert to a top and bottom bunk. Mary has the choice. Should be an interesting night!!
Rural landscape is very flat and dominated by rice. Another stop coming up
Well an interesting exercise at immigration - off train walk around through a building leave Malaysia and arrive in Thailand. Only problem is that the Thai visa for overland arrival is only for 15 days which means we have to leave on 9 August. Have to get that extended to the 20th $$$!!t
Ordered a set meal soon after entering Thailand and then meals were delivered on arrival at Hat
Yai junction. Soup, red curry, rice, chicken and vegetables and stir fry pork with pineapple slices for dessert. This with 2 bottles of coke
and a fruit juice was 420 baht.
It's now 3.30am and we are waiting at a station now for 20 minutes. Don't know why? Another train has caught us up.
Sleep is on and off as the noise of the carriage clanking is at times very loud. However the beds are comfy and it is nice to lie down.
We should be in Hua Hin about 7am. Friday is looking like a rest day!!
The other train has gone and we are off finally after waiting 40 minutes.
Now it is after 6 am and nearly daylight we are making steady speed and should be within and hour of Hua Hin. My eyes tell me that I am sleep deprived.
Arrived 7.55am Hua Hin. Now having brekkie across road from station. Station attractive older style, nice gardens and very clean and neat.
