Time to spend a few last days with the family, throw stuff in the attic, figure out what the hell I'm taking with me(!), to explain to the dog what's happening and that all the bags don't mean she's moving home again.
Somehow, I ended up decorating a bedroom in the house which was strangely cathartic and distracting, but did contribute to a mad session of packing the day before I leave.
A quick dash to get my last round of shots (temporarily losing feeling in my left shoulder in the process, a collective family dash from all corners of south-east England (please that the roadworks around Heathrow are finished when I get back), and I decent night and meal before flying.
Note to all travellers - all the complicated theories about long haul flying and jet lag are well and good but planning time to make you fresh and relaxed before you fly is the best solution of all.
