Show trip route
After an early 07.45 breakfast (do kids get up at that time ! ). Can I just get this straight, 7.45 on a Sunday morning they are all wide awake having breakfast with the intention to be all assembled with instruments, music etc by 9am for a departure...! This I am waiting to see
Arrive ar Rangendingen at around 10.30 and play as part of the festival and afterwards socialise with our german hosts who came to the Harrogate International Music festival at Easter and visit Burg Hohenzollern castle in the afternoon for a "massed band social"
After an evening dinner with our hosts we depart back for the hostel arriving back at around 11 to 11.30 pm !! What a first day this will be.
Now will the guys be on a high and can we get them all tucked up safely into their beds or will Brunty be walking around the corridors at 3 in the morning !
As I type it's 1pm and we are in rangendingen the sun is shining and both bands are on stage in a marque playing to a "beer festival" type audience ! Schmitzel and chips for lunch looming bit in the meantime the massed bands going down great with the audience, a special mention must go to Miggins who forgot his black trousers, who then after trying all available alternatives finally resorted to playing in jeans ! well we did even try him in girls tousers (dont tell anyone !)
After lunch we visited Hohenzollern castle unfortunately the cach parked near the bottom of the hill and we all had to walk up, Wiggins being first in the race up the hill!!! Brunty gave up half way up and we found him back on the coach.
The castle was amazing and with a few of the kids dressing up in capes, chain mail etc during the tour this made it even more fun. Tommy Butler made us all laugh as he was a lookalike of one of the paintings on the wall and he made the same pose
Remember the slippers that we all wore around around the tour... Great fashion accessory !
Back in the evening to our hosts who served a BBQ so local sausages etc all round.
Pam spending most of the evening eying up the locals in lederhosen. After a game of football we departed and to the screams of anchor man we watched video's on the 2 hour transfer back to the hostel.
Food both externally and in the hostel so far has been fantastic, even if a little rushed !
