Our local guide will take you on an approx 3 hour tour of the Ubud area, which will give you an opportunity to observe the day-to-day village life of the local people, see rice fields and amble along the valley (wild grass that is used for making the roof on traditional buildings), and visit a local painting handicraft area. The tour ends in central Ubud where you'll have time to explore the many cafes, galleries and shops on your own
Sounds like eating and drinking day !!!
Up early and after meeting the rest of our group a couple of Germans (lovely Kim and Nadia) and two belgiums (Lynn and Peter) we then departed to the top of the world and walked along the carparhian ridge amongst the rice paddy fields and chocolate trees !!
It's certainly a hot one with full sun we are slowly wandering along a semi tropical forest road with rice paddy fields either side dropping down into the valley below. Idillic !
Currently having a pineapple smoothy at a cafe high on the ridge !!! Wonderful views - they even have wifi here !! (see picture of Donna in front of rice paddy)
After a three hour walk which included a typical Balanese house, temple and local art we finally arrived back in ubud for a well deserved pint!
After eating a Nasi Goreng Special (we are all calling it nasty Gory) for dinner (a local rice dish with coriander lemon grass chicken prawns and comes with prawn crackers and chicken satay skewers and to top it all a fried egg) we are now back around the pool in full Balanese sunshine (phew it's hot!)
The people here are wonderful and I can are why they nickname it beautiful Bali !
Looking forward to the local dance tonight - see yesterday pre blog for information .
What an amazing dance... There was around 50 men all chanting swaying and clapping a love story which involved a few characters on full costume and masks with a backdrop of a temple !
Afterwards the group went to the mucky duck restaurant which was actually an outside restaurant. From the street it looked like an ordinary restaurant but opened up into a huge restaurant (open air) and could seat hundreds. We all ate crispy duck !
Just returned to the hotel and just about kept awake long enough to hear Murrays gold in the single final at the Olympics, although he was playing in the middle of the afternoon in the UK it was nearly midnight here !!!
