Our final day and 41km today sees us finally at our goal, The Taj Mahal in Agra !

Am I ready to throw away the cycle shorts !

A real excitement was around last night as a couple of beers, showers and entertainment by the puppet show- romeo and juliette and a very strange play including horses !!!

A few tears were shed as Holly handed out letters from the partners back at home but finally we jumped onto our tents for the last night camping (did someone cheat and stay in a room !  Shock !!!).

With fireworks from a nearby wedding and a very busy main road next to the tents it was not a peaceful sleep that we had been used to in the wilderness. Actually very strange camping with our hike tents in the grounds of a posh hotel with other europeans looking down their noses as us !!!

This morning has brought the usual sunny day with temperatures rising already and we all look like clones on our Marie curie t-shirts, what a sight it will be all cycling in a peloton this morning.

Final 50 miles today ending up at our goal, the Taj Mahal. Wow does not seem that long ago as we were in Pushka sitting on the bikes for the first time. Anyway breakfast over so I will update again when we reach The hotel in Agra tonight

Quick 10 miles this morning along a four lane duel carriageway nicely tarmaced but don't worry this is India, expect traffic to come straight at you along your side of the road. a great run only to be interrupted by a swarm of the biggest wasps you have ever seen, so with Marie curie t-shirts disappearing in every direction we all scarpered !!!   Matthew and Carl unfortunately got a couple of stings each, so once we had re-grouped 1/2 mile down the road cream was applied !

A further stop a few miles later to Fatepur Sikhri a majestic palace that was built and only used for a small number of years as water supplies ran out!   We are tourists again ! The palace had three internal palaces one for each of his three wives, Christian , Hindu and Muslim - very impressive, but the gereral consensus is that we want to get back on our bikes and finish the remaining 20 miles to Agra and our goal.

Packed lunch eaten we will be setting off again in a moment (the crew even when they are not here are still feeding us well ), but it's now just coming up to 1pm and usually we are sitting in the shade by now, so a fitting end to our long distance ride in temp in excess of 32 degrees and climbing , mind you we should not complain everyone back home reading this blog is probably sitting inside with the central heating on !

The final 20 miles (or 10km - sorry group joke) was easy going apart from the last 10 miles when suddenly we hit the Agra traffic will full force.  Traffic has been bad in the past, but when you cant even get the bike down the streets due to excessive traffic its bad !

A short ride accross the bridge and a couple of corners, and wow there it is the Taj accross the river from us.... Emotions just erupted !

After what seemed a very short time, but in reality was probably longer than we thought we then proceeded back in the dusk with light fading fast the final 7km to tonights hotel.

A celebratory meal after a swim in the pool (did I see floating teeth in the pool ?) and massages and facials was well received

It's a 'balmy' 10 degrees out there at home today... could rise to 11 if we're lucky. haha!
Hope the last stretch in the heat of the day goes ok. xx
