Today sees us hike for 5 hours in the rice paddy fields again staying in a local guesthouse
Heavy rain overnight and woke up to low cloud and extremely grey clouds, I think it's drizzling but can't be bothered to get out of bed to look !!!
Oh well lets just enjoy what we have, could be worse could be less than 30 degrees C !!!
At 9.30 we set off and proceeded up hill and down hill on small sheep like tracks in between rice fields
The terrain is either up or down and it was tough going. Slowly the drizzle turned to heavy rain and the intrepid 7 (plus Robert and the two young boys who were our guides) plodded slowly on. As the hours past the rain slowed and typically after 4 1/2 hours of trekking we passed over a ridge and saw our village Ping An Ang down below us and guess what - the sun came out !!!!
The best bit of the tour so far !!
A quick lunch, shower and dry clothes we are now looking out of our hotel room across the most beautiful valley covered with layers and layers of rice terraces.
Afternoon was very lazy - we found a local terrace cafe in this small village and sat and drank beer and chatted.
Evening saw a local restaurant where individual dishes were chosen but we ate as a banquet. Nathan started with a live locust in his bowl and we ended the meal with a huge live cockroach terrorising the group. Still eating for around £4 per person. Amazing value.
Must admit a decent (non Chinese) meal would go down great at the moment !
