Pre Blog

As Alistair sets off early for work we can have a leisurely start as we don't need to arrive at London Heathrow Terminal 5 until 16:40 for our departure with British Airways. Although we have upgraded to World Traveller Plus (equivelent of Business Class) there is no private departure lounge at 9Terminal 5, so a three hour wait slumming it !

Day 2 but actually day 1 of the adventure. Up early at 7am but no rush as the flight does not depart until 4.40 this afternoon.

Just checked in using the BA app - so no queuing at Heathrow - virtual tickets now displayed on my iPhone !!

Just got to Heathrow terminal 5 and dropped in the bags and just been free upgraded - wow - now in what's called "club world class". Business class to everyone else !!

So that's lay flat seats and private little cubical s on the plane - and a bonus we are now sitting in the posh lounge eating and drinking a nice glass of wine.

Then from a high to a low .....

UPDATE at 17:35

So our flight never departed at 16:40 (4:40pm)... we sat waited, saw a little man climb into the engine of our plane and eventually at 17:10 (5:10pm) an announcement was made - basically - "Your plane is knackered !"

"Would all passengers please wait and a drinks voucher will be delivered in approximately 20 minutes, we are now awaiting for a plane which is just landing, which has been now allocated to your flight. The new departure time is 20:05 (8.05pm)"

"Would all first class and business class passengers please go back to the first class lounge where you will be duly looked after"

All I can say is thank you for that free upgrade and as Colin has just commented "Jammy you !"

So we have a further 2 hour wait and hopefully we will be on our way again...

Back to that delightful bottle of wine then !

Finally at 8.05pm the plane pushed back and with the biggest of smiles on our faces we started to explore our posh seats.. Suddenly a glass of champagne was offered as we taxied to the runway

After take off with Donna and Helen flying backwards (strange experience they said on take off)) we were presented with the menu. I chose crab for starters and sea bass for mains. With posh tablecloths and proper china and knifes and forks - wow !!

Now lets settle down to a film before turning the seat into a bed
