All up by 5.30am for meeting with community. It eventually starts about 7'30am. The meeting goes well and they a happy with our suggestions of how we may be able to help in the future. The ideas include
Y Flushing toilets
Y Solar heated showers
Y eeePCs for the school (solar powered, although mains electricity is promised by the end of the year)
Y New covering for greenhouses
Y Information on lightening
Y Basketball equipment
Y Playground equipment
Y Guinea pig farm (small business to be run by and for the school/community)
Y Loan facilities for teachers who have not been paid by the authorities.
Today's work is mostly painting and manure collection.
Go to have a look at the river which runs next to the school. It's highly polluted from the disused mines upstream. Collect some samples, along with the "tap" water, to get tested when we get home.
Since we said that we would like to buy some hats everybody in the community seems to be knitting!
At the end of school we say goodbye to the teachers who go home for the weekend.
Jenny, Eve and Richard have been poorly for the last couple of days but seem to be recovering.
