Robb and Henry conquered Dorr Mountain while Caroline and I slept after a big breakfast of eggs, ham, onion and green pepper. They were both SO excited and happy when they came back. I loved watching their faces as they described their hike. Henry found a trail tag in Bar Harbor and immediately bought the Dorr Mountain one. Cadillac Mountain is also on their list and Acadia Mountain is on all of our lists.
We had lunch at Thurston's which is known to have the best lobster pound on the island. Robb had a full lobster, the kids and I had lobster rolls. Ridiculously good. After lunch we headed to Bar Harbor. Cute! We just walked around the shops and stopped and had a drink on the water. We booked our whale watching tour for Thursday and are just praying the weather cooperates. So far it's been perfect.
Tonight we are just getting prepared for our camping trip to Isle Au Haute. It's really nice to be able to chop and prepare so much of the food ahead of time. This is the first time we've stayed at a fully functioning house vs a hotel room. This wins out big time. For some reason I LOVE doing laundry on vacation and as luck would have it, they have a stackable set here. I've already completed one load. Lol. I don't know why, but it becomes an obsession and it's weird.
We stopped at some guy's house and bought 4 lobsters for dinner. The lobster pot is on and we are just waiting for it to come to a boil. I told Robb that one night I want to throw potatoes in foil in the pit, steak on the grill, and more lobster. Have to do the whole surf-n-turf!
Mosquitos are in abundance here for sure. We stocked up on Repel with 40% deet and it is really effective.
Time to sign off and help Robb pack for tomorrow.
