So another day on the trail, shocks me that y'all keep coming back to read more. As if something interesting would have happened...Woke up to sunshine at 7 which is a luxurious sleep in day for me. Ate breakfast and watched weather channel (also known as the hiker channel) which predicted a 20% chance of rain. Looking out at the blue skies made me wonder if the "greater than 20% chance = definite rain" rule would hold true.

Got shuttled back to the trail by Sue the motel owner and hit the trail at 9. First thing is the climb up to Horns Pond. Really great vista looking over at the Bigelows with Horns Pond down in front, the wispy clouds passing between me and the summits.

The next section is up another 1000 to the summits of the Bigelows which are over 4000 ft. This is the last time I'll be up that high until Katahdin. Pass a camp group at the summit and the kids ask funny questions.

Approaching the second summit the weather turns. All of a sudden it's raining and windy. In the distance you hear the rumble of thunder and I am immediately concerned about the ridgewalk down to camp. Of course it's such a familiar pleasure to be soaking wet from head to foot.

Just past bigelow summit I pass a special milestone: 2000 Miles on the trail!!! Hard to imagine what this number means but something I didn't think was possible a few months ago. I guess I can give myself a little pat on the back (remove pack first)

Got into camp real early because it was a short day. Heavy heavy rain coming down on the roof of the shelter making me very glad I'm here.  Looking forward to a nice long sleep. Didn't get enough in town because I always stay up so late watching TV. Haha.
Have a good one!
