So, some of you may have heard that I am going on a new adventure. I have decided to become an Appalachian trail thru hiker! This blog will keep you informed of my progress ( or lack thereof) my injuries, my sorrows and joys, and hopefully allow you to experience a little bit of life on the worlds most famous hiking trail.
First, though, I thought I would practice roughing it down in Florida for a family vacation. Of course by roughing it I mean eating seafood for every meal ( gag me now!) going scuba diving ( meh, I've seen a fishtank before) and spending time with a bunch of lovely people ( but unlike the Appalachian people I hope to meet they have all their teeth, college educations and take daily showers)
In short I am now very well prepared. In all seriousness it has been a beautiful vacation here in the keys. Stephen flew down to Naples to hang out with our cousin Kathy Tobin and my mom. Stephen and I practiced our Spanish staying with a friend of mine from chile, Daniela, and all her argentinian friends ( Stephen had to keep the chicas at arms length!)
In the keys we stayed with the Mosers ( which spell check just auto-corrected to " losers" (they are the exact opposite!) their condo complex is great, right on the water and they seem to love entertaining us. Sarah and Jim hall also came down which made the trip even better. Stephen Sarah and I kept the party going late every night when the old folk went to bed :)
We went scuba diving, blew chunks hanging over the side of their boat, read, kayaked, ate great food, watched weird movies and generally had a supreme time.
Now that I've soaked up luxury, I'm ready to royally rough it.
I will try to write an entry as frequently as possible. You may read the other entries in this travelpod page to see what my writing style is like... Though you've been forewarned people say I'm an awesome writer... And everybody knows once a writer thinks they are awesome their work starts to stink.
Speaking of stink, if you don't want to hear about how bad I smell, what gross foods I've eaten, or how nasty my feet look and feel, this is probably not the blog for you. Check out the blog about Europe, it's much more civilized :)
So you've been warned. But for the strong ones...I hope you'll join me as I attempt to walk north from Georgia to Maine.

You are awesome guests! At least we didn't feed you to the Alligators in the Everglades! Keep up the good work and stay away from the Bears! Good luck!

If you like the beautiful views and beautiful water you should go to Destin and Fort Walton Beach, Florida on gulf coast where the natural beauty is preserved. While you are there you should check out Couch-n-Four steakhouse and seafood restaurant; whether you are in the mood for Steak, seafood or just to hang out with friends, Coach-n-Four, http://www.coachnfourfwb.com, is one of the best Fort Walton Beach restaurants.
