The town is a bit rundown, we drove to the end of the peninsula some beautiful homes and private small beaches. Visited an old church built in an archeological site.
We had a tourist day and drove to the other side of the peninsula to a town called Monemvasia. The town was a naval station of King Minos during the Creatan prehistoric period. There is a medieval Byzantine village built on a rocky islet cut off from the mainland by an earthquake in AD 375 and is accessible by a narrow bridge. It's a stunning old world village all in stone with narrow streets crowding in on you, some held up with scaffolding beams. Some places are being restored, people live here, there is accommodation and plenty of cafés and shops for the tourists. It's beautiful and expensive.
Pete became quit sick on the last day
