We all arrived at the botanical gardens around 3pm and the photographers took Mark and Svetlana off for some special shots... It was a warm sunny day and a superb setting in the beautiful gardens ... The ceremony was at 4pm a nice intimate 8 of us overlooking the distant mountains.. The service was so beautiful.. I videoed most of it, so it is on record that Mark has promised to buy Svetlana dresses and Svetlana has agreed to let Mark watch English football every Saturday.
Part of ceremony included them declaring why they loved each other, it was the most emotional wedding I had been to, one minute laughing because Mark loved that Svetlana drove south when they should be going north on the 101 and then crying with joy as Svetlana loved Mark because he left his Kingdom to be with her...awesome...they also had a sand ceremony where each of them have different coloured grains of sand and pour them together into a jar, two become one never to be separated again.
After more photos we all went to the reception in The Sanctuary ... A beautiful resort overlooking the mountains and palm trees... fantastic setting and a fantastic meal as well... a Russian tradition is someone (Ian in this case ) ..steels the brides shoe and then has to barter with the groom to get it back..Mark ended up paying Ian 20 dollars for it.. and then the groom has to drink Russian vodka out of the shoe... yes we made him do that as well..it was good fun ... the Sanctuary made a special dessert for Mark and Svetlana and we all enjoyed our beautiful desserts too ... it was a really super day one I will treasure forever...
So a toast to Mark and Svetlana ... may all your dreams come true and best wishes for a long and happy life together..
