- Day 4 -
Got the early bird train to Jaipur with Rin. We got fed and watered which made the 5 hour journey much better. Considering it cost about a fiver I was quite impressed (much better value than Midland Mainline anyway!)
We checked into the Atithi Guest House. It's clean and pleasant and quiet.
In the evening went to check out the Tiger Fort (so called because actual real man eating Tigers live in the surrounding hills). To get there we went through the (old) Pink City. Probably not as pink as it once was but still looked pretty stunning. Sipped on a few beers up at Tiger Fort which sits on a hill overlooking the whole city. The last Muslim prayers of the day floated up from below
Had my first Mosala Dosa (potato wrap essentially) for dinny din dins and it was yumtastic. Brilliantly, I didn't have the shits today but Rin's been on the bog pretty much constantly!
-Day 5 -
Today was awesome. We met "Ali G", our driver from the night before, and set off in his turbo charged death mobile.
First stop was the Amber Fort a few k's out of town. The whole countryside was covered in strongholds and wall-of-china style fortifications. I did the walk up (Rin took the Jeep because she's hefty) and we had a walk around. The elephants were sweet and had painted faces.
Next stop was my new favourite place ever - Monkey Valley!! (Galta)
Basically it's a sun-god worship place set in a steep and narrow valley. The whole thing is covered in monkeys. REALLY ENJOYED!
Back to the pad for a rest and cheese toastie then off to the shops.
In the evening I met a medic from London who "prescribed" me some anti-b's incase I ever start pooing blood. Pretty handy to have I thought.
-Day 6 -
Had a late start owing to extreme laziness and went to check out the Palace of the Wind, which gave awesome views over the Pink City. Being a childish imbocile I did a little fart and laughed to myself.
We ate dinner at a restaurant for posh Indians and got lots of funny looks. Afterwards we had an authentic India massage which was relaxing after I got over the fact I was being felt up by a man. Also met some girls from Fulham who insisted they aren't fans of Sleazy Barry's but I didn't believe them for a minute.
Ali taught me how to drive his Rickshaw which was great fun but also terrifying because it's so quick and so so unstable.
Leaving for Pushkar tomorrow.
- VITALS -
Fear - all but gone
Disease ratio - not bad (fingers crossed)
Banter - steady
Mind f*ck - slowly decreasing each day
