I have always loved the wall of heat that seems to hit you as you step out of the Airport, the smells, the frenetic pace, all gives me a buzz.
We organized a Bangkok highlights Tour thru 'Tour with Tong' our guide Charlee picked us at 8am, we had Charlee last year as guide & he is great
I won't bore you with all the details but some of the things we saw were The Grand palace, Royal Temple of Emerald Buddha, Wat Pho, Wat Trimitr, Klong Tour & Jim Thompsons House, now i probably have left out some Wat's but wat ever :).
The highlight was the canal tour in a long-tail boat, fascinating to see how they live & pry the canal to make a living. The government is trying to eridicate the flooding by introducing loch's, we'll see how that goes soon enough i suppose.
We had lunch near Wat Trimitr at Coconut Palm, we ordered some Spring Rolls, Chicken & Cashews, Som Tam salad & 2 Large bottles of Singha. All the food was great, not huge servings but delicious. The bill was 440baht ($13).
It was an exhausting day & Di did a fantastic job with her broken toe & we finished at Jim Thompsons house which is near our motel. we got cauught in a downpour & arrived back around 5pm,
We showered & had a bit of a rest & went downstairs to the bar with the intention of wandering out for dinner, but Di was exhausted so we orderded dinner from the bar
For dinner we shared some Lamb & Chicken satays & a Tom khar gai soup, nothing to write home about but did the job. The bill was 1400baht which included 5 Changs, Margarita & lemon squash.
Tucked Di into bed & i went over to MBK, i couldn't resist buying a piece of fried chicken from a street cart, 20Baht, that would do me for dinner, well maybe 2-3 pieces. MBK was crazy as ever, but will get back there when we have more time.
The weather was hot we had a brief thunderstorm late in the afternoon that lasted for about an hour.
Until tomo.sawadee krub
