(Note :  All entries from now until Perth in November are way shorter than they should be, as all out text got stolen, together with our laptop, all our valuables, and almost our whole campervan, when it was broken into and trashed in Rome at the end of October.  Have a look at that entry if you want to have a look at the damage the bastards did.  The next month or soīs text is written 6 months later, so we may have forgotten some bits!)

We had timed it so we would be in Prague to meet up with friends form Bradīs work, Vic and Kane, and Vicky who used to work with Brad at Pfizer.  Vic and Kane were doing a tour round Europe for a few weeks (Kane had proposed to Vic only a week or so before when in Greece, so this was also reason enough for a big celebration) and Vicky was there with her parents who are from Czech.  A big weekend was planned from back when we were in Australia in April.  We spent a day hiking at this fantastic national park just over the border and north west of Prague, with big cathedral spires of rocks and the remainder of forts build in the Middle Ages, and then contacted Vicky to find out where in Czech she was with her parents.  By chance, she was less than an hour away in her parents family village, so the next day we drove to their lovely little village and had a few beers, ending up spending the night there before heading into Prague with Vicky to meet the other guys.  They were staying in a lovely old two bedroom apartment right by Prague Cathedral, so we left the van on the outskirts of town and lived it up in the centre of town for the weekend.

There followed three big big nights of  great beer, great food, great company, wandering along the picturesque streets and bridges, great local bars and squares, a fair bit of green fairy sipping (absinthe), getting home late, getting up and doing it all over again.  It was fantastic to catch up, and also made a great change for us from normal campervan life.  The city itself, although touristy as expected, is captivating and one of the most picturesque and photogenic weīd seen on our travels, and the weather we had was perfect.  We even went to an ice hockey match which was really really good and with a great local atmosphere.  Unbeknownst to us, the security when going to the ice hockey is extremely strict, complete with high level bag scanners and full pat downs.  Luckily we were able to stash our bottle of green fairy in the bushes outside (had a laugh when we saw at least 50 other similar bottles stashed in the bushes too!), and despite consuming many beers whilst watching the game, our little fairy was still waiting for us when we returned.

Unfortunately the weekend zoomed by all too quickly and hazily, and we had to go our separate ways afterwards, but we all had such a good time, the we all couldnīt believe we hadnīt spent more time catching up back in Perth.
