Quick backtrack to Belgrade to have a look after the Exit Festival and to get new front wheel bearings for the van (another casualty of some of the shocking roads we'd gone through over the past months).  Very cheap to get work done on your car if you ever need to know!  In fact, Serbia was probably the cheapest country we'd been to so far for most things.  We wanted to make sure we came here after our friends from Montenegro (Therese and Jovica) said we should go - it's well known for its hip night life. 

When you drive in, it reminded us of a 'gritty' version of Melbourne (trams, late 19th century buildings), though it was a nightmare to drive around (easy to lose your bearings,  Geddit? Geddit?)!  We would have loved to have checked out the bars and clubs (like Melbourne they're often not obvious - check out the text from the guidebook on one place : "Slip round the back of the main building, go up to the 1st floor and knock, then be prepared to heave yourself into the happy mass"), but we were still burned out from all the drinking at EXIT, so maybe next time.
