We arrived in Novi Sad the evening before the festival.  We had paid a bit extra for access to a camp site (not sure what the free camp status would be there, given they were expecting 250,000 people), but it was pretty feral, so we lucked on this top spot just round the corner from the entrance, lovely little park with one couple who had pitched a tent behind some trees, and a couple of English guys in a van.  That was it.

As for the festival itself.  What a venue!  17 stages set in the grounds of an old fortress on a hill on the banks of the Danube.  Stages were set in the old squares, in the moats, and through tunnels to different areas so it felt like being at several music festivals at once.  Brad and I were umming and arring as to whether we should come as we knew it would be pretty hard core, and as the events don't kick off from about 8pm until 8am (yes, like being on Perth time zone without actually being in Perth!), we thought we might be a little too old and craving our beds by the time the main acts came on Flypast at the start of Exit

Well we made it, all 4 nights!  Assisted by copious amounts of alcohol we managed to see the sun come up on the 1st and 3rd mornings, pulled a 3am on the 3rd night, but Karen struggled on the last night and went home early at 1.30 am (Brad managed only an hour or two more at the Dance Arena)!  Saw some great artists like Paul Weller, Manu Chow, The Streets, Primal Scream and Sex Pistols.  There were also some well known DJ's (Kruder and Dorfmeister, Deep Dish, Miguel Migs) belting out the tunes which we spent some time raving to in the big moat.  So we spent the next few days telling ourselves that "we've still got it", and aren't past it at all!  (Mind you it was full on and our entire days were spent sleeping, lazing around in the van, and then lazing around under the shade of a tree, eating whatever junk food we could lay our hands on and drinking as much liquid as our distended stomachs could handle!!!)

After a day's rest on the day after EXIT finished (getting the picture?) we headed back to Belgrade to have a look and to get some stuff done on the van (those Albanian roads had had their effect!!!)
