More island hopping next. Hvar is a long thin picturesque island with lavender bushes, olive trees and vineyards down its length, with smattering of little fishing villages and beautiful bays until you get to Hvar town, a charming little harbour - and probably best described as the Monte Carlo of Croatia. Cool bars, crystal clear water, mega expensive boats, and the glammed up to be seen set. All this without losing its character of little cobbled streets and local little bars. We caught the ferry with the van to Hvar Island with a view to spending a day or so there, and ended up staying four. We set up another day trip on a wooden boat to the island of Vis and the famed 'Blue Cave', a cave that is illuminated by the natural light from a underwater hole that goes all the way through to the outside of the cave. The blue colour was unreal (check out the photos - have not enhanced the colour at all - that's how it was). Spent some time on Vis and some other caves - some beautiful tuna for lunch on board the boat and a few beers - another perfect day.
