Sunset, first night of the trip
Parked up, French countryside
Rapeseed fields, France
The plan was to high-tail it to Italy to defrost and to park up for a few days in the Umbrian hillside to plan the European leg.
On the road, Switzerland
Nancy's fancy main square
Of course, we had obligatory stops in some beautiful French and Swiss towns (the visit to the Pommery champagne house and cellars a standout),
Descending into the cellars, Pommery
Dusty and musty - cellars, Pommery
I'll have the big one, thanks
Just fill 'er up , thanks
taking detours through the Swiss Alps (many roads were still snowed in so it was still hard to find a mountain pass open to cross).
Mmm..top spot to spend the night
..so we did
Monday morning coffee, Switzerland
Lakeside - Switzerland
Cheese delights - top of the Alps
Plus we had the obligatory 2 hours per day in the massive food hypermarkets and local 'smallgoods' shops on the way (would you expect any less!). One block of cheese per day, countless baguettes, awesome wines and coffee..............and then we got to Italy! (henceforth times the above by at least 20!)
Cathedral, Reims
