Today when I went in to work, the volunteers were doubled up.  So I was allowed to leave for a few hours and come back at 4pm.  This was the perfect opportunity to drive to Dyersville to see The Field of Dreams baseball diamond.  Dyersville is 25 miles west of Dubuque.  It was an easy drive.

The site of the movie is truly in the middle of nowhere.   Once I came upon it, all I could say was, "Yep, that's it."  The bleachers, where the actors sat, proved to be the perfect place for my picnic that I'd brought. I sat right where James Earl Jones says, "Oh, people will come Ray. People will most definitely come."  I was advised to find the carved heart on the bleachers, and sure enough, there it was, "Ray loves Annie." Good tip.   After lunch I took a few pictures for people who'd forgotten cameras and promised to email them (I have).  They returned the favor by taking a few pictures of me.
It was very peaceful there.  And interesting to see so many people were there just because of a movie.  Then again, it's Iowa.

At 4pm I returned to the museum for a short 2 hour shift.

After work I headed back to the campground and on the way decided to take a quick trip to see The Grotto in Dickeyville, WI. It was an amazing place in its own right. I think the pictures speak for themselves.

It was a good day.  I returned to the campground and prepared homemade meatloaf and home fries for dinner.
