From Cliff
Let me start by saying that Glacier National Park is one of the most beautiful places that I have ever seen in the world, the mountains, the valleys and the lakes all put together in the most perfect way!! It is a place that I would like to revisit with a few days so that I could really explore and experience it properly.

Now sadly we were unable to stop at any part of the park due to an issue with Glens bike, it has been not always starting and today it got a whole lot worse and started cutting out.  We stopped for lunch just outside the park entrance and called ahead to a Harley dealer in the town that we were going to for the night and they agreed to look at it if we could get it there.  We managed to fiddle and get it to fire up but then did not want to allow it to stop again until we reached the dealer in Kalispell.
We have great video of Glacier and images in our minds of it and thankfully we were able to make it to the dealer and it was fixed within 90mins.  It appears that Glen while being a legend bloke isn't a legend GPS installer and his job had allowed the terminals to get loose causing the bike to short out.  (the dirt road section may have also been a player in this)

Anyway both of us were stoked that it was a simple fix and had cost us no lost time and it was a cheap repair.  By pure fluke our hotel was only 400m from the dealership so it all was resolved in a great way.

We then retreated next door to the Blue Canyon Bar & Restaurant and had a great meal (meals of the trip so far) along with some local beers and an Australian McLaren Vale Shiraz by the glass!! Forget the brand but it tasted great, we had a good chat to the barmaid and manager and ended up getting a couple of free glasses on the house.

A day that could have really gone pear shaped ended up being a really enjoyable day, the bike gods have really looked after us today!

Sorry it's taken us awhile to get this icon of a National Park into our blog, but we wanted to be able to spare the time to write about it and upload a video. As Cliffy mentions above, my bike started playing up just after Sturgis.....yes I blame the 30 miles of corrugated dirt roads we rode in on.... but, yes I have to say that my GPS wiring technique was novel, but it worked, but didn't stand up to the vibration test that Sturgis through at it. Needless to say, a few minor problems in Billings, MT but limped in, tinkered all good.....then a few more problems as we got into Great Falls, MT also....but still manageable - but by the time we got to St. Mary (Park entrance) the bike charging system had had enough and wouldn't play the game......More tinkering, fiddling and some luck from the bike gods meant she started ..... but I needed to keep the RPM about 2000 and above or the bike would stall and die..... and we were literally miles from anywhere (plenty of people but very few facilities)

Great...... now whenever I slowed down and had to stop (fortunately this was at the park entrance and at the roadworks at the Western edge of the park) the bike and I sounded like Harley idiots as I was literally revving the s**t out of the bike when stopped.

Okay, the good part was Glacier National Park itself - the video doesn't do it justice and sadly, based on the bike - we couldn't stop to take photos either !

Both Cliff and I have travel led far and wide across the globe, but both us rate this place as being one of the most, if not the most...scenic place on Earth. The "Going to the Sun" road offered some spectacular views (be even better without out all the traffic) - and it was hard not to keep taking your eyes of the road as we ascended, crossed Logan's Pass and then descended down the other side. The bike problems make me chuckle now, but the memories of this place will be with me always.
