Well, if there is a Mecca ( insert your religious equivalent) for Harley enthusiasts then this is the place. Milwaukee - Wisconsin: not only known for 'Happy Days', 'Laverne and Shirley' but "That 70s Show" and the film "Blues Brothers" were also filmed here (not Chicago as Jake and Elwood would have you believe).
Wisconsin is well known for it's beer, bratz (sausages) and cheese (or cheese curds in fact). Yes curds exist and they taste great with a good Shiraz, but that's another story. I am yet to find what "whey" is or what it tastes like.
Anyway, back to the Harley thing..... the H-D museum is quite simply one of the best museums I have ever had the good fortune to walk intohere...
At the time Cliff and I visited they also had a "Leather Jacket" expo on as well - pretty neat, seeing all the pictures of outlaws, rebels and rockers that have worn leather over the years. Pretty cool to see Arnie's outfit from Terminator 2, complete with bullet holes from the set!
Probably one of the best moments captured in the museum was a short film with all the 'best bits' of biker films over the years including Easy Rider, The Wild Ones, The Wild Angels, The Outlaws and so on to name a few......it sort of appears that not much has changed over the years with bikers always existing on the fringe. Seriously though, if you ride a Harley and are ever in or near Milwaukee, the H-D museum is a must-see.
