It is a cold and rainy day as I type this, a great day to focus on the trip that is only about 18 days from kicking off. Glen will be pleasantly surprised to see that I have actually got online and entered something. I got the latest JJJ Hottest 100 CD today to add to our music list and started looking for Australian bandanas (which may be a little harder than I thought)
All flights are booked except my domestic return flights to LAX, Glen has bought and taken care of the second bike so all the main things are in place. We have a great route planned and an easy first three days planned where we can relax and go over the finer details of the trip. A big thanks must go to Lisa and Keiko for letting us embark on this great modern day adventure and also our workplaces for the time off.

You're bloody right mate I am surprised ! - I had this account all set up four weeks ago and had these great delusions of sitting down once or twice to write down my thoughts of family, last minute checklist items and really amping up the pre-trip excitement. Now, here I sit one day before your arrival, with the only spare time I've managed to grab - in our family wagon minding the kids whilst Lisa grabs some items at the shops.

As I type this a quick Jacksonville (JAX) summer thunderstorm has sprung up and is dumping a sun shower as I write this one handed on the iPhone. It's ironic that it has come down to this - Lisa is just about to drop me at the H-D motorcycle shop to pick up your bike (new tyres and front brakes). So the bike will be in the garage no less than 30 hrs prior to your arrival. Cutting it close....

That said, I echo your sentiments for our beautiful wives - this trip of a lifetime wouldn't have been possible without their support, faith, understanding and patience.

The rain has stopped, Lisa's back in the car and we're off to the H-D dealership. The trip has begun.......

I'm farkin jealous already boys!!!!!! It will be amazing no doubt.
Bit of background about Cliff, we grew up next door to each other and the boy has a long history with cycles (motor and bi). Motorbikes are in the blood his old man Billy used to ride a BSA with a side car after WWII. His brother Neil was a hell raiser with his mate Charlie and I think he rode the gnarly Honda 750four an absolute beast and from memory Charlie rode a Trumpy!!!
Suffice to say he was surrounded by bikes..

he's a bit of a bush mechanic too, he had a brand new Malvern Star dragster back in the 70's and then BMX came on the scene. Well he wanted tange forks and if he couldn't get them he was going to straigthen out the forks he had. So he brought the bike over to my place and we took the front forks off and beat them straight with a hammer in the gutter. I'm still living that one down, whenever I see Billy he still brings it up. He was probably and quite rightly pissed to the max, that poor brand new Malvern Star.

Not long after that Cliffs' mum Fay went on Casino10 a game show where she absolutely cleaned up. Guess who gota new BMX with tuffs and all the goodies!!!!!! lucky prick.

Then there was the purchase of the first motorbike which was nearly a tragedy in itself!!!! Cliff and I were looking in bike shops and he found the sexiest 500cc bike (race replica) two stroke widow maker!!!!! He was all geed up to buy it but luckily asked his brother Neil along to have a look. NO fucking way was the comment.Cliff bought the much tamer GSX-R400 a great bike.....

And everything else since has been a toy racer, so it must be said maybe the geezer is ready to slow it down a little after all these years....

Have a great time (and you know what they say, what happens on tour stays on tour ;-) )

I remember being doubled on that ZX6R when you first got that beastie!!!! We took the on ramp from Pacific Pines onto the highway. We hit loose stuff on the roundabout from a concrete truck or something, you back off and she slid a little then you gunned it and pulled it up straight, I knew then this was some piece of machinery. Before I knew it we were running down that on-ramp, Cliff with a fist full, I pulled my helmet out from the stream line and I saw the speedo pushing 230 and we were still accelerating, the force of the air was so strong I decided for my own lifesake it was better to not worry about how fast!!!!!! Just hold on and enjoy the F1-11 style acceleration and speed
