I took Cliffy to my all time favourite restaurant and bar..... of all time. Thanks to CJ (whom GG met with Julian (GG's friend) on a previous trip; and also to GG's sister Amanda who made him take her there based on his ramblings....
Great bar/restaurant - must see if you go to South Beach
Anyway the 'getting into' Miami didn't start too well after the great highs we had around Daytona Beach - a 'little weather' was spotted on the 'nose' as we tracked south. So spirits were high as we encountered the first thunderstorm and scraped by with only a little bit of lightning and five minutes of rain.....Clear Sky :) for about 30 mins...... next thunderstorm hit and we got pretty wet. The tropical meant that we elected not to put on our rain gear.....not that Cliffy had any rain gear anyways....
So we got wet.....dried out.....next thunderstorm....Rinse and Repeat.. you get the picture.
Five thunderstorms in total with the last one forcing us under cover of an overpass where we managed to look like drowned rats that got off a sinking ship. Confidence shaken we nearly dried out by the time we hit Miami.....except the GPS (apparently I am okay at navigating airborne, but suck on the ground) led us to the lovely, security rampant, very industrial, chemically enhanced "Port of Miami" ..... we managed to get to Miami South Beach (SOBE) eventually
Well we made it, the trip has started!!! I have never ridden a bike of this size and although I did not let onto Glen I was a bit concerned that I may drop it as in my mind I figured that it was going to handle like a truck! How wrong I was, the bike felt really nice to ride and within a few miles I knew that we were going to bond just fine and that is how it turned out.
Having ridden through all the storms to have gotten here and a bit of a hassle in finding somewhere to park the bikes I was not really feeling very social but Glen keep raving about this Bourban Bar that he REALLY wanted to take me to.
Thankfully I relented and we went and ended up having a ball and the one drink that I comitted to became 10!!!
All was going really well and we were having a great chat to some wine reps and the barstaff. Glen then decided to try his new move again that he learnt early in the day when we were getting coffees, and smashed his drink all over everybody!! Again this is my usual trick so I was happy to now have two in the bank as I felt I would need them later in the trip.
