In the morning it was pack up and time to go. Los Mochis had never been an intended stop and even the guide books didn’t have anything that really interested us.
As part of our prepaid package substitute, we got one night at the Santa Anita Hotel in Los Mochis. It is a very nice hotel (frankly nicer than a roadtripping family of 5 needs) in downtown. Although it is 'centrally' located, everything around shut down by 6pm… even the chicken stand that Jeff had psyched himself up to go and order from. It took some psyching because he had already been laughed at (again, unappologetically) by the teenage girls running the juice shop on his first outing. On several occasions, we’ve been stared at (it seems to be acceptable in Mexican culture to do so) but the laughing was a bit more than Jeff’s ego could take.
