Where I stayed
We are now in Solvang, CA – a Danish themed town… very Danish. You can’t stand anywhere in this town without seeing a windmill.
The hot tub at our resort is in a gated enclosure. The kids and I had it to ourselves. Jeff came by to see how we were and from his vantage point on the third floor walkway, he referred to us as "the Klimchuk-Brown exhibit at the Solvang zoo."
From our accommodations in Nice, CA (on Clear Lake) we drove to San Fransisco so that Jeff and the kids could walk across the Golden Gate Bridge (I did it in 1995). Our trusty GPS took us via the 179 which is the most twisty Hwy I have ever driven . We might have hit 40 km/h. It was scenic though. On the far side of it, we drove through wine country - which I'm sure is much more impressive in August but which we enjoyed all the same. I dropped Jeff and the kids at the North side of the Golden Gate Bridge then I drove across by myself – FYI it’s a toll route. On the other side, I met up with the group and we planned our continuation via San Fransisco. I pulled out of the parking lot and promptly got onto the on-ramp for the bridge Northbound… oops! The bright side is that it is only a toll going INTO the city.
