We arrived in Hoi An and got a free lift to a hotel which looked great in the leaflet, and it didn't dissappoint, however it was too far from the centre and the swimming pool was a little bigger than a bath! We ended up bagging a top notch hotel for $12/night; it came with a buffet breakfast, A/C, cable, fridge and a roof top terrace with a swimming pool! I was living it up for $6/night!
The full moon festival was on again so we headed out to check out the fuss, grabbing a bite to eat along the way.

The main reason for stopping in Hoi An was to get some suits made. There were over 300 tailors in town so there was plenty of choice! I negotiated a price of $50 per suit at one place! But being so cheap, was it going to be any good? I chose my material and got all measured up, returning the following day for the first fitting. I tried the trousers on any they were a bit baggy and the pockets weren't right so I told them to fix it, which they promptly did. I tried the jacket it on and it was 'gay-tight', so they set about sorting that out for me. In total I had about 6 fittings to get it right; I was being meticulous about it as I didn't want it falling apart or looking shoddy when I got home. The first suit was a success, so I ordered another, different material, returning the following day to have the first fitting. A few tweaks here and there and it was sorted. $100 for two suits! Does it get any cheaper, let's see how they hold up when I actually wear them when I get home...

I didn't really get up to much else in Hoi An, checked out the beach with Shi-ru one day, and played some pool in one of the bars with the British guy I met in Hue, whom I also bumped into in Hoi An. Everybody follows the same route in Vietnam; the country is so narrow that you don't have much choice where to go unless you get off the beaten track and head into the hills, hence I keep meeting the same people.

Severe lack of pictures in this entry as internet access in Cambodia is still in the dark ages, not that I took many pictures in Hoi An anyway...

Next stop is Nha Trang, sun, sea, sand and SCUBA....the adventure continues, although it's pretty easy going in Vietnam, and nothing like the adventure that is China!
