La Sporttiva, model Crosslite 1770-Y

Good tread on these shoes, the grip has been excellent to date, in everything from hot rock to wet streams. I can read the terrain with ease wearing these.
I choose non-water proof shoes to hike in, they breath better, cost a little less, and dry faster than water proof footwear. Making for a comfortable hike in all weather types.

As much as I like these shoes, they have fallen apart on the outside edges - lifting from the sole of the shoe. Every shoe of this model, that I have seen on the trail has the same defect. Usually starting at around mile 150, there has been 4 pairs so far.
I contacted the warranty department and had a little run around....even tho they know there is a defect with this model, the guy said 350 miles is excellent miliage for these types of shoes. Not true at all. There is still about 55% tread left, and I have put on a lot more miles on other brands - that were designed for ultra-light trail running.
Then he said they will look at them, if I send them back. Well, that would require me to buy a new set of shoes, return this set, and then be stuck with another set ....IF they covered it under warrenty. Too much hassle in this situation. And since I had a similar issue with another company......except for the fact the other company understood my situation (long distance hiker), they sent out a new pair, and used photos to determine it was a defect......I will not use this brand again.
So I just glued the shoe back together and will trash these when I wear them out. After this experience - No more Supportive Brand shoes for me.
Back to my other brand, that I know I can count on to take care of issues easily, when/if they arise.

Shame, they have a great tread that holds up well, and grips great also......if only it would stay attached to the uppers!
